Klára Laurenčíková is a special educator and government commissioner for human rights. Since 2023, she has also served as Deputy Minister for European Affairs and National Coordinator for the Adaptation and Integration of Refugees from Ukraine. At the Ministry of Health, she works as an expert guarantor of the children's mental health agenda. She lectures externally at the Department of Special Education at Charles University, she is the founder and chairwoman of the Czech Professional Society for Inclusive Education and co-founder of the Good Start initiative, which aims to help young children from institutions into families. In 2016, she was named an Ashoka Fellow for her support of systemic change in the field of inclusive education, making her part of a global network of social entrepreneurship and innovation. She was awarded by the Olga Havel Foundation in 2019 for her advocacy for quality and openness in education systems and her activities in transforming the system of care for children at risk.
