IF Lab
The Inspiration Forum Lab is an international, interdisciplinary research programme by the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival (Czech Republic) in collaboration with the Kersnikova Institute (Slovenia) and Sensorium (Slovakia). The Lab connects artists and scientists in co-creative, research-based multimedia projects, aiming to forge new and unexpected connections and foster innovation. The goal is to explore new models of collaborations that bridge the gap between the languages of the sciences and arts, and share knowledge with global audiences that otherwise rarely have the opportunity to interact.
Each edition of the IF Lab focuses on analysing a different global theme. The 2021/2022 edition, Limits to Growth, explored the concept of planetary boundaries, while the following 2023/2024 edition, Bodies of Water, focused on the use of water as a vital resource and medium for cultivating ecological awareness and collective care.
The 2025/2026 edition shifts its focus to the exploration of trajectories as both physical and metaphorical movements across time and space. These trajectories may be understood as tangible traces left by bodies, objects, or natural forces, but they may also take the form of more abstract, data-driven patterns that reflect motion, transformation, and disruption within larger environmental, social, and political contexts.
