Jaromír Bláha works as an expert on forest and wildlife conservation in the Rainbow Movement (Hnutí DUHA). He is the soul of the programme that is in charge of everything related to forests and nature protection in the Rainbow Movement. He has organised several non-violent public blockades in Šumava National Park, which saved the unique mountain spruce forest Trojmezná from being cut down. In 1999 and 2008, he received the Central European Award for the Forest Conservation Act of the Year from the Slovak Green Hope Foundation, and in 2000 the Haas-Lechner Award in Germany. In 2016, he received the Josef Vavroušek Award for long-term contribution. Since 2016, he has been a member of the Council of the DUHA Movement and its chairman since 2019. In addition, he works as an internist and endocrinologist in a veterinary hospital.
