She is mainly involved in the not-for-profit economy advocating for an economic model based on not-for-profit enterprises – i.e. companies whose primary objective is social benefit, not profit. However, these do not include non-profit organisations; not-for-profit enterprises are not dependent on donations or subsidies; their income comes from the sale of services or goods. However, they also differ from traditional companies because they have a mandatory collective ownership structure and a limited return on investment. Hinton hopes for greater equality, a decline in consumerism and a weakening of the link between business and politics in the not-for-profit model. Naturally, this model also offers a chance for humans to live a dignified and sustainable life on our planet.
