Martin Janovský is an archaeologist working at the Institute of Archaeology in the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University. He specializes in geoarchaeology –an interdisciplinary field combining archaeology and geosciences to study the relationships between human activity and the natural environment in the past. He is actively involved in historical landscape modeling, analysis of ancient settlements in Israel, and the integration of modern technologies in archaeology. In his work, he uses methods of soil, sediment, and landscape process analysis to understand the development of settlement and ecological interactions in Central Europe.
