Michal Kurz is an employee of the Masaryk Institute and Archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences and a historian of contemporary Czech history specializing in the 1950s, urban history, architecture, and heritage preservation in the 19th and 20th centuries. He is the co-author of a publication accompanying the exhibition of the same name, Boj o malé město (1900 – 1960). Příběhy památek a jejich lidí (2024) (The Battle for a Small Town (1900–1960). Stories of Monuments and Their People), which uses the stories of specific historical buildings across regions to reveal the complicated fates of monuments in the whirlwind of modern times and highlights the people, often local enthusiasts, who were significantly involved in the determined, though not always successful, efforts to save them.
