The phrase “We just met, then we started dating” sounds almost like a fairy tale today. Thanks to digital technology, dating has fundamentally changed into something increasingly uncertain. It has never been easier to meet new people, yet for many of us, starting or maintaining a relationship is more complicated than ever. Apps give us endless possibilities, but at the same time, they’re turning dating into a jungle of emotions, expectations, hesitations, and fears. Relationships are influenced by the need for freedom and the fear of commitment, giving rise to new forms that often defy clear definitions – from open relationships to so-called situationships. What does this say about us and our concept of love, and the eternal search for closeness, intimacy, and ultimately ourselves?
