Apolena Rychlíková is a Czech journalist, screenwriter, director, and radio documentary maker. She is the recipient of the Journalism Award for Best Commentary and the Novinářská křepelka Award for the best journalists under 33 years of age. She was the first Czech woman in history to be nominated for the prestigious European Journalism Award in the opinion piece category. Her film Hranice práce (2017) (The Limits of Work) won the Česká radost award for best Czech documentary and the audience award at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival in 2017. Her latest film, Hranice Evropy (The Limits of Europe), premiered in 2024. Apolena Rychlíková also created the podcast Kvóty (Quotas) and wrote the book Piko (2022). Additionally, she lectures externally at FAMU in Prague and collaborates with a number of leading Czech media outlets. Between 2013 and 2023, she was first a contributor and then an editor at the A2larm journalism server for eight years, and since May 2024 has been running the journalism platform Pagenotfound.cz.
