Jan A. Kozák is a scholar of religious studies, translator, and writer. At the Institute of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Charles University, he studies Old Norse religion, which he connects with Jungian psychology. He translated Tolkien’s epics and won the Magnesia Litera award for his book Sága o Lundirovi (The Saga of Lundir) (2023). His work goes beyond the conventional epic, deliberately combining imagination, play, and a metascientific approach. By joining knowledge and fantasy, he revitalizes cultural heritage and reshapes it into a distinctive subgenre of fantasy. He has held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship and a Snorri Sturluson Fellowship. He runs a private psychotherapy practice and regularly appears in the media.
