Petr Kupka is a criminologist based at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ostrava and at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň. His research focuses on urban marginality, informality, organized crime and crime control, primarily in the post-socialist context. He is the author and co-author of many dozens of publications on these topics, including the book Násilí, podvody a každodennost: Jak zkoumat organizovaný zločin? (Violence, Fraud and Everyday Life: How to Research Organized Crime?) (2017). He served as an expert adviser on the documentary film Dům bez východu (House Without an Exit) (2024).
