Vít Schmarc is a film journalist, critic, distributor, and producer. He studied Czech Language and Literature at Charles University's Faculty of Arts, where he went on to complete his doctorate degree. He previously worked as a culture editor at Czech Radio's Radio Wave, and still collaborates with them on the podcast Čelisti. His career has also taken him through the distribution company Film Europe and dramaturgy roles at the Be2Can and Scandi festivals. He now runs Artcam Films and serves as vice-dean at FAMU. His book Země lyr a ocele (Land of Lyres and Steel) (2017) examines the subjects, ideology, and myths of Czech Stalinist culture through its poetry, prose, and film.
