The 2018 murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak interrupted his work with Pavla Holcová on a story about how the ’Ndrangheta had established itself in Slovakia. Eight years later, Holcová travelled to Calabria, the place where this system originated, to return to the investigation. Using recordings, photographs, and videos from her reporting, she will show how a criminal network creates companies, relationships, and debts, builds loyalty and political connections, and infiltrates business, politics, and institutions. How can mafia power hide inside the legal world and survive for generations?
