The Elite factory in Varnsdorf would have celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, but it never lived to see the day. It left behind hundreds of people whose work lost its value on the market, but not in the memory of the town. Kateřina Šedá transformed the memories of former employees into symbolic currency – an unconventional severance payment and a 'thank you' that they never received. Where money ceased to make sense, she reminded us that recognition and dignity have their own value.
