“We Exist Behind the Closed Eyes of Humanity,” Says Adam Hrubý About Long Covid That Has Affected Millions of People Around the World

Long Covid is not just a set of physical, mental, and cognitive problems—it is a global phenomenon that affects politics, the economy, and social life. It is estimated that up to 400 million people worldwide suffer from this often overlooked disease. How do the long-term effects of Covid affect the daily lives of patients, and what healthcare deficiencies do they face? What further support do they need from the system? And why is this hidden pandemic one of the biggest challenges facing the current healthcare system?

In this episode, you will hear personal testimonies from those living with long Covid – artist, designer, and performer Adam Hrubý, and photographer and poet Hana Pololáníková. The discussion also featured Klára Šimáčková Laurenčíková, government commissioner for human rights, journalist and member of the crip collective Rebeka Veselá, and doctor Silvie Dobrodenková, a specialist in tropical medicine. The debate was moderated by Magdalena Dušková. The podcast is presented by neuroscientist and science journalist Pavla Hubálková.
