“I make simple, direct political drawings. I make them in museums, books, newspapers, on the street and on Facebook,” says Dan Perjovschi. His work is rooted in experience rather than theory: he goes to various places, talks to people, follows the media, and gradually creates an installation from local and global events. In this visual lecture, he will trace his journey from academic painting to freehand drawing, from canvas to walls, and from life under a dictatorship and the wild post-socialist transformation to today’s world. He will show how politics, power, everyday life and humour find their way into his drawings and installations. For the 30th edition of Ji.hlava, he will also create a new public installation at the Festival’s venues.
